VM Tech
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 23, 2026
VM Tech keeps as little about you as possible. This policy explains what we collect and why, following British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
We only connect when you click Allow. Every time.

What we collect
- Your details: name, mobile number, and email.
- Your help requests: the messages you send us and our replies, including voice and video messages you choose to record.
- Session records: the date, start and end time, the technician, and a short note of what we did, so we can bill fairly and help you next time. We do not record video of your screen.
- Your computer’s name and basic system info when you install VM Tech Remote, so we can connect when you ask.
What we never collect
- Government ID (driver’s licence, SIN, passport).
- Credit card numbers. Payments go through Stripe, which handles your card securely.
- Your passwords. If we need you to sign in to something during a session, you type it yourself.
How we use it
Only to help you, bill you, keep our tax records, and contact you about your requests. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
- Stripe, to process payments.
- DigitalOcean, which hosts our servers in Toronto, Canada.
- Twilio and Resend, only to send you sign-in codes and notices by text message or email.
- The law, if we are legally required to share it.
Remote access: your permission, every time
- Having VM Tech Remote installed does not let us into your computer. We can only connect after you click “Allow” on the box that pops up, every single time.
- We connect only when you asked us for help, and never while you are away unless you asked us in writing.
- During a session we look only at what we need to fix the problem. We don’t open, copy, or keep your personal files, photos, email, or passwords unless you ask us to (for example, to back them up).
- You can watch everything and end the session at any time.
- Our remote-support server is our own, located in Canada, and connections to it are encrypted.
How long we keep it
Voice and video messages are deleted automatically after 30 days. Session and billing records are kept for 6 years, as Canadian tax rules require. You can ask us to delete your account and chat history; we’ll keep only what the tax rules say we must.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information at any time. Contact us below and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Security
Our portal uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), staff logins are protected, and access to client information is limited to VM Tech staff.
